Monaco Grand Prix Chauffeur Guide

How to attend the Monaco Grand Prix with a private chauffeur — around the road closures, grandstands and crowds of race week.

The Monaco Grand Prix is the jewel of the Formula 1 calendar — run each May on the streets of Monte-Carlo, around Port Hercule and up through the Casino square. For that week the principality is at bursting point and its roads all but close, which makes a private chauffeur the only relaxed way to move. Here is how to attend the Monaco Grand Prix.

The jewel of Formula 1

Raced through Monaco's streets since 1929, the Grand Prix is unlike any other round — barriers inches from the harbour, superyachts moored feet from the track, and the whole principality turned into a grandstand. The action builds from practice on Thursday to qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday, in late May.

It is as much a society occasion as a sporting one, and demand for every seat, terrace and berth is intense.

  • A street circuit raced since 1929
  • Superyachts and grandstands around the harbour
  • Practice, qualifying and race across the weekend
  • Held each year in late May

Arriving for the Grand Prix

Most spectators arrive through Nice Airport, around 30 to 40 minutes from Monaco by road — considerably longer in race-week traffic. A private chauffeur meets your flight and brings you toward the principality, while those short on time take the helicopter to the Monaco heliport with a car waiting.

Because the whole coast runs at capacity that week, booking transfers and hotels far ahead is essential.

  • About 30–40 minutes from Nice Airport by road
  • Helicopter option to the Monaco heliport
  • Book transfers and hotels well in advance
  • The coast is at full capacity for race week

Road closures and getting around

Once the circuit is set, central Monaco effectively closes to traffic, and moving between the Casino, the harbour and the grandstands on foot through dense crowds is slow. A chauffeur who knows the diversions drops you as close to your entrance as access allows and stays on call between sessions and dinners.

It keeps a packed race weekend flowing, rather than lost in gridlock and crowds.

Yachts, terraces and grandstands

The most coveted views are from the yachts moored in Port Hercule and the terraces overlooking the track, along with the grandstands ringing the circuit. A chauffeur links your hotel, the harbour and your seats, and coordinates with a yacht's crew where the day is spent aboard.

However you watch the race, the ground logistics are handled while you enjoy it.
